Deion Sanders and the Jackson State Tigers hosted scouts from 22 NFL teams on Monday for Pro Day, but it was the 10 teams that didn’t show up that got the head coach’s attention. Sanders sent out a warning to the teams that didn’t send a scout to Jackson, Miss.

“Our pro day, at an HBCU, I love that, and yeah, and guess what? That means 10 of them (NFL teams’ representatives) is missing,” Sanders said to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe. “Don’t think I ain’t going to call you out.

“You 10 that’s missing if I catch you at Mississippi State or Ole Miss (for those two SEC programs’ upcoming pro days), it’s going to be a problem. That’s all I’m saying.”

Sanders has high hopes for his squads’ future NFL prospects. He’s previously stated he hopes to have seven to 10 players taken in this year’s draft.

Jackson State welcomes crop of Mississippi players for Pro Day

Along with JSU’s own crop of NFL prospects, Sanders hosted players from Alcorn State, Mississippi Valley State, Millsaps, Delta State and more. More than 36 players received invitations to the Pro Day at Jackson State to showcase their talent for NFL scouts.

“Our kids are that good, you should have shown up, too,” Sanders said. “I’m going to expose them.”

Jackson State and the other teams with former students going through drills don’t produce as many NFL draft picks but Sanders wants the scouts’ attention all the same. Mississippi State’s Pro Day is on March 22 and Ole Miss holds its Pro Day on March 24. As SEC programs, it’s highly likely that they’ll have a larger contingency of scouts, however, it’s rare for even the best programs to have all 32 teams in attendance every year.

Among those to watch for from Jackson State’s group of NFL hopefuls this year are DE James Houston, CB Al Young, WR Keith Corbin, DB CJ Holmes, and LB Keonte Hampton.

Notable absences from the Pro Day were the Texans, Panthers, Giants, Bills, and the reigning Super Bowl champs, the Rams.
