Deion Sanders reaffirms why Travis Hunter should be a top two NFL Draft pick: 'Nobody wanted to believe it'

Why Colorado Buffs QB Shedeur Sanders Not Shaking Hands With Colorado State QB Is NOT A BIG DEAL

Colorado football coach Deion Sanders is a staunch advocate for his players and has been for a long time. He’ll remind you of that occasionally, when the opportunity presents itself. And Sanders found himself with such an opportunity recently after watching superstar Travis Hunter put together arguably his best game on both sides of the ball against Colorado State.

On his weekly radio show, Sanders tackled the topic of Hunter’s draft stock.

“Travis did this last year, so what’s the difference?” Sanders said. “If you track it last year, we were darn near in the same place. That’s what I’m saying, he did it last year. I just wonder how, all of a sudden, now you recognizing what we’ve said?

“He should be No. 1 or 2 in the draft. I said that a while ago. Nobody wanted to believe it because it was me.”

Against the Rams, Travis Hunter managed to record a season-high 13 catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball he racked up five tackles and picked off a pass, returning it for 38 yards.

That’s a productive day’s work for a two-way star, one who is playing as many snaps as anyone else in the country.

Of course, Sanders isn’t the only one singing his praises.

Travis Hunter was recently ranked as the top overall player in the country in the On3 Impact rankings. Wrote On3 at the time:

“One of the top playmakers in the country, Travis Hunter continued to shine on both sides of the ball against Colorado State. He had 100 receiving yards on offense as Shedeur Sanders’ top target to go with five tackles and an interception on defense in the 28-9 victory.

“That performance helped move Hunter up from No. 3 in last week’s On3 Impact Top 10 as Colorado gets ready to get Big 12 play underway. He picked up where he left off last season as the straw that stirs the drink for the Buffs, and he’ll look to keep it going this week against Baylor.”

Bottom line: Travis Hunter is well deserving of the hype, and he’ll almost certainly continue to receive it if he keeps performing the way he has been.
