Deion Sanders sets honest expectations for Shedeur Sanders vs. NDSU
High expectations are nothing new to Deion Sanders and his son, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
With year two under Coach Prime officially underway in Boulder, they’re looking to get things off on the right foot against the Bison on Thursday night. That effort starts under center with Shedeur, and Coach Prime outlined his expectations for his son in game one.
“Shedeur, we just want him to just take what they gave him tonight,” Coach Prime said on ESPN ahead of kickoff. “We’re gonna say, ‘Man, take what they give you,’ then we’re going to establish the running game for him as well.”
One of the greatest concerns for Colorado fans heading into this season is offensive line play.

This time around, Coach Prime said his son will be a bit more comfortable in the pocket.
“He’s going to have more time, because the offensive line is unbelievable,” Coach Prime said. “They have a passion for the game. We have several guys on that line that have pro dreams and aspirations. I’m not talking about play play pro dreams and aspirations. They know if they do their job, they get opportunity. As well as, we got a coordinator that has dialed up running backs, tight ends, and a plethora of receivers, they can flat out go get it.”
Colorado is coming off a 4-8 season in 2023. After jumping out to a 3-0 start under Coach Prime, they would drop eight of their next nine games and fail to reach the postseason. Heading into 2024, FanDuel Sportsbook slotted Colorado’s win total odds at 4.5 wins heading into the 2024 season.
Pairing Sheduer up with two-way star Travis Hunter, the duo are expected to be one of the most exciting duos in college football this season. Whether the rest of the Buffaloes offense and the defensive unit can rise to their level remains to be seen.
Kickoff between the Buffaloes and Bison is set for 7 p.m. ET live on ESPN.
