4-star PG Del Jones updates his recruitment
Del Jones is the No. 76 player in the 2024 On3 Consensus. The 6-foot-2 junior is the starting point guard for Maxpreps No. 9 ranked Huntington (WV) Huntingont Prep.
“I’m a floor general, point guard,” Jones told On3. “If coach needs me to facilitate that night, I will. If coach needs me to score, I will. I’m always going to defend. I’m becoming a vocal leader now.”
On3 caught up with Jones after a recent live viewing to go in depth with an update on his recruitment.
Jones talks recruitment
“I haven’t taken any official visits yet,” Jones said. “I’ve taken an unofficial visit to George Washington. I’m hearing from Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Seton Hall. I’m going to do visits this summer.
George Washington: “I had good talks with Coach (Chris) Caputo. He is a good dude, tells me how well I fit into their system. With my mindset, the way I play. He says they need a point guard like me for their stuff to run. It’s home for me; it’s local. I like the school a lot.”
Mississippi State: “I’ve had great talks with Coach (Patrice) Days and Coach (Chris) Jans. I love their style of play. They’re dogs; they going to compete, play hard until the very end.”
Seton Hall: “I have great talks with Seton Hall. I really like their new coach, Coach Shaheen (Holloway). I think that would be a good school for me, they are on the rise, and they need a point guard. If you play hard on defense, they’re going to let their guards go.”

Texas A&M: “I have good talks. They seem to be really interested in me; they’re always in contact. I like their style and the toughness they play with.”
“Tennessee is talking with me,” Jones said. “UCF is coming in. UConn and Clemson are talking with me. Missouri some. We’ll see what they do.”
In Jones’ words
“I’ll look at whichever school makes it feel the most like home for me,” Jones said. “I want to feel comfortable and welcome at the school. I’ll be looking at that on the visits, where I feel most comfortable.
“I want to go to a program that will let me come in and play my style and have an impact off the rip. I want to get up and down and play fast in transition. A program that will space the floor and let their point guards make plays.”
