3-star EDGE Deshawn Warner announces top four schools
Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge three-star EDGE Deshawn Warner holds offers from nearly 20 programs. He is ready to focus on four of them going forward.
Warner’s finalists are Kansas, Oregon State, Texas and Washington. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound pass rusher has set official visits to the Beavers (June 1), Huskies (June 20) and Jayhawks (June 23). He is also hoping to visit the Longhorns in the coming weeks.
“I feel like these are the schools that prioritized me,” Warner told On3. “I could really see myself at them.”
Texas and Washington are Warner’s two most recent offers. He had already built a relationship with both schools in the past, which allowed them to climb up his list in a short amount of time.
Right now, Warner is planning to announce his commitment in late June or early July. He already knows what he wants in a program.
“I want to find a family-like atmosphere with the coaches and players,” said Warner, On3’s No. 45 EDGE and No. 13 player in Arizona. “I am looking for who can develop me and who is prioritizing me. The things that I’ve been hearing over the phone, I want to see that they are true in person.”

Kansas: “I feel like I’ve built a great relationship with coach (Taiwo Onatolu) and coach (Jordan) Peterson. My friend is committed there and they do a really good job at developing people at my position.

“I am excited to see the environment,” Warner added. “I know they have a big college town, so I want to see what the environment’s like out there and the family feel that Aundre (Gibson) was telling me about.”
Oregon State: “I’ve built a great relationship with the coaching staff and I know that I can trust them. They’ve prioritized me since they offered me last year. I loved it out there when I went, so I definitely want to get out there on an official.”
Texas: “I’ve been talking to them since they came out to Arizona last January. I feel like I’ve built a great relationship with the coaches there. They’ve definitely built a big presence on the college level and it’s a school I could see myself going to.”
Washington: “It’s beautiful out there. Their fanbase is crazy. They definitely develop defensive ends great. They have two defensive ends that combined for 18.5 sacks. They’ll most likely be first round picks. Having two defensive ends on the same team that may be first round picks really shows how much they can develop their guys.”
