The best aspect of the Top-10 matchup from Ann Arbor on Saturday is Texas’ offense, led by Quinn Ewers, facing Michigan’s defense.

Ahead of kickoff tomorrow, Desmond Howard joined during ‘SportsCenter’ to discuss Ewers’ meeting with the Wolverines. It started with compliments to the Longhorns’ quarterback as one of the best players in the country and one of the top overall prospects for the NFL Draft.

I mean, you’re looking at Quinn Ewers? He’s one of the best, top quarterbacks in all of college football,” said Howard. “He’ll be a top draft pick, probably one of the first quarterbacks off the board come April.”

As for how he’ll handle the maize & blue, Howard says Ewers only needs to trust his offense above all. While some of the targets have changed from last season, the scheme and play-caller are still the same for him. That should be enough when paired with what they have for him in targets to handle this in The Big House.

“All he needs to do is just do what Sark tells him to do. I mean he has spent a few years in this system now. He knows it like the back of his hand,” said Howard. “He’s not worried about personnel changes because they lost Xavier Worthy and bring in (Isaiah) Bond.”

They’ve got personnel, they have scheme,” Howard said. “I think Ewers has to do what he normally does.”

However, Howard also warns that this opponent isn’t just any other defense that Ewers will face.

“You’re not going to confuse Colorado State’s defense with this Michigan defense. Michigan has probably three, if not four, first-rounders on their defense. They’ve got a new defensive coordinator in Don ‘Wink’ Martindale who came from the NFL,” continued Howard. “It’s going to be a hungry, a physical defense that Quinn Ewers is going to see tomorrow afternoon.”

This will be one of the more difficult challenges in Ewers’ career in playing the defending national champions up north. Even so, Howard knows he can be ready for it with who he is and what that he’ll have available to him on that side of the ball.
