Devin Royal is Pangos All-American Camp Day 2 MVP
Las Vegas, Nevada – The Pangos All-American Camp finished up day two similar to how day one ended with forward Devin Royal impressing as much as any player in attendance.
The 6-foot-6 versatile forward has been the most consistent player through two days that impacts winning in many wins.
Selecting Royal as MVP was the easy part. Choosing the five players for the All-Pangos Team was much more difficult.
Devin Royal the On3 MVP
Devin Royal is as consistent as they come. The 6-foot-6 forward from Pickerington (OH) Central High is an advanced scorer with a natural feel for the game. He is a consistent three-point shooter, he can get downhill to the basket, and he sees the floor well. Royal has used his body well at Pangos, creating angles, and bumping his defender to create space. He has the ability to guard multiple positions. Every step has a purpose for Royal. Royal has upcoming official visits to Ohio State and Michigan State in June. Those will be his fourth and fifth junior year visits.
All-Pangos Team Day Two
Choosing an All-Pangos Team on day two was not an easy task with a number of standout performances. The guard depth at the event at point guard and combo guard in the classes of 2023 and 2024 made for tough choices on day two.
AJ Johnson
The 6-foot-4 combo guard played with a speed that has been unmatched in this setting. Johnson, who doesn’t turn 18 until December, routinely beat defenders with a quick and long first and second step. His ability to explode to the rim, and finish with dunks in transition has impressed us. The younger brother of Houston Rockets shooting guard Jalen Green displayed a smooth stroke from the three-point line. He has made the correct reads in the ball screen game with ideal timing delivering passes for scores. Louisville, LSU and Gonzaga are among the growing list of teams interested.
SG Ian Jackson
The No. 2-ranked prospect in the On3 Top 25 in the 2024 class plays with a toughness and a flair that brings excitement to the game. He is a 6-foot-5 guard who plays defense with an intensity and he attacks the basket with a purpose. His team was loaded, but Jackson picked his spots of when to take over and he was consistently able to. Jackson says Oregon and Kentucky are the two schools recruiting him the hardest.
PF Pharoh Compton
The 6-foot-7, 235-pound class of 2024 power forward is the best rebounded at the event. Compton scored 17 points and nine rebounds in game tonight. He battles for position, and rebounds outside his area. Compton’s offensive game will have to expand, but his motor will make him a high-major player. Compton flashes some Montrezl Harrell in his game. Arizona State is the lone high-major offer headed into the live period.
C Isaiah Miranda
The skill set, and the tools, have never been questioned. The 7-foot center has great length and a natural fluidity in his movements. He can also line up, and shoot the three with consistency off the catch. He scored a very loud 24-points in the first game of the day, showcasing the full set of tools. Things will need to continue to tighten, but the tools are vast. Miranda will officially visit Georgetown this weekend, his second junior year official. UCLA and Texas are also visit possibilities. USC is considered the early favorite.
C Yves Missi
The 6-foot-11 long-armed Yves Missi arguably has the best upside of any big man at the loaded event. Missi plays with a physicality and level of aggression on contact that has proven to give older prospects issues. He attacks the chest of defenders with a jump hook over the left shoulder. Missi has proved to have an impressive motor as well. He hustles to get back into plays when beat, runs the floor and chases rebounds outside his area. Defensively, his length makes it difficult to finish at the rim for opponents. Missi’s recruitment includes Michigan, Indiana, Kansas, UCLA and Baylor early on.
