Deyon Bouie of Bainbridge, Ga., is another example of the momentum Texas A&M has on the national recruiting trail.

As expected, Bouie, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound four-star athlete, committed to Texas A&M over Georgia. The decision buoys the Aggies’ chances at landing a top-five recruiting class, especially with other top prospects like Harold Perkins, Brenen Thompson, Bear Alexander and Ernest Cooper IV trending toward A&M.

When Bouie backed off his original commitment to Georgia verbal on June 8, Texas A&M was considered the heavy favorite.

Deyon Bouie’s decision to back away from the UGA pledge came just four days after he took an unofficial visit to College Station. Bouie also visited Florida State and met with coach Mike Norvell. But even then, all signs pointed toward him ending up with the Aggies.

“He’s a versatile athlete who could play defensive back or in an Ainias Smith role for the Aggies,” On3 national analyst Gerry Hamilton said.

The key question remains whether nor not the Bulldogs make a November or December run again at Bouie. Or will UGA go in a different direction?

Bouie attends the same high school that Kirby Smart did, and he was also in Athens, Ga., as recently as two weeks ago.

Deyon Bouie is ranked as the No. 67 player in the country and the sixth-ranked player in Georgia.

Bouie said he’s “105% recovered” from an offseason knee injury that cost him his junior season at Bainbridge. As a sophomore, Bouie played both ways and had 28 catches for 510 yards and six touchdowns. He also had three interceptions.
