College football and college basketball have changed drastically in recent years, and a lack of NCAA rules, and enforcement of rules, has led to some issues. ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale called for changes to college basketball and college football on Monday.

Vitale took to Twitter to make his case for former Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski to take over as the commissioner of college basketball, with former Alabama football coach Nick Saban serving as the commissioner of college football.

“CHAOS and the Wild Wild West scene is wacky in college,” Dick Vitale posted on Twitter. “Look, I feel players deserve money for certain situations like appearances. etc. But the current scene is out of control. ZERO rules — make Coach K & Nick Saban Commissioner’s of hoops & football!”

Dick Vitale is one of several people to suggest Nick Saban and Mike Krzyzewski serve as commissioners of their sports.

Vitale tweeted out an article about former Florida State players suing head coach Leonard Hamilton after they did not receive NIL payments to go along with his suggestion for new college basketball and college football commissioners.

Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger broke the news earlier on Monday about the lawsuit.

“In a landmark filing, six former FSU basketball players are suing Seminoles coach Leonard Hamilton over $1.5 million in unpaid NIL cash they say he promised them,” Dellenger wrote on Twitter. “The complaint details a team-wide boycott of a practice last season over the payments.”

Also on Monday, UConn head football coach Jim Mora called out other programs and coaches for tampering with his roster.

“A simple note to the schools and coaches that have blatantly broken @NCAAFootball rules by tampering with our players in the last 24 hours. We do know who you are, we will pursue all avenues to hold you accountable,” Jim Mora posted.

“We are excited that we’ve built a program where coaches have to cheat to beat us and we will protect that program. Think hard before you tamper with our players. #justgettingstarted

With so much happening with the NCAA, NIL and the transfer portal at the moment, perhaps Dick Vitale is right and Nick Saban and Mike Krzyzewski could help improve college football and college basketball.

There’s no doubt that the two legends know as much about college sports as anyone.
