Cincinnati forward Dillon Mitchell plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Joe Tipton confirmed. A former top recruit, he started his career at Texas.

Mitchell spent two years at Texas before taking his talents to Cincinnati this past season. He averaged 9.9 points per game with the bearcats while adding 6.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, as well.

Mitchell turned in his best year as a Longhorn in 2023-24 when he averaged 9.6 points per game and a career-high 7.5 rebounds per game. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

The On3 Transfer Portal Instagram account and Twitter account are excellent resources to stay up to date with the latest moves.

Dillon Mitchell is a Spring Hill (Fla.) native and played high school basketball at Montverde Academy, where he was a Five Star Plus+ prospect – meaning he was one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five star. He was the No. 4 overall player from the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Mitchell was a starter throughout his time at Texas, starting 71 of the 72 games in which he appeared. He averaged 4.3 points per game as a freshman in 2022-23 before taking a leap forward in 2023-24.

Cincinnati finished 19-16 overall this past season, including a 7-13 mark in Big 12 play. The Bearcats still played in the postseason as part of the inaugural College Basketball Crown, and their season came to an end in the second round against eventual runner-up UCF.

Mitchell will be the sixth Cincinnati player to enter the portal since the window opened after the NCAA Tournament Round of 32. The Bearcats also have two transfer players coming in, headlined by former West Virginia guard Sencire Harris – the No. 7-ranked combo guard and No. 117 overall player in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.

Former Kentucky guard Kerr Kriisa is also on his way to Cincinnati out of the portal. He spent this past year in Lexington, but suffered a season-ending injury after appearing in just nine games, including one start.
