LSU CB signee DJ Pickett ranks No. 10 in final 2025 On300 update

Five-Star Plus+ cornerback DJ Pickett out of Zephyrhills (Fla.) is the crown jewel of LSU’s recruiting class, signing last month with the Tigers after strong pushes from Florida, Miami and others.
Pickett had been committed to the Tigers since July 17, when he chose them over those programs, as well as Oregon and more than 30 other reported offers. LSU’s staff worked feverishly to keep him in the fold over the final few months.
They see him as a centerpiece of their defense over the next few seasons, and that’s reflected in his final ranking from On3. On Thursday, Pickett checked in as the No. 10 overall prospect in the 2025 class.
The 6-foot-4, 175-pounder is coming off a senior season where he notched 29 tackles, including 5 tackles for loss, as well as five interceptions and two forced fumbles. On offense, he caught 35 passes for 568 yards and eight more scores.

Scout’s Take on DJ Pickett
On3’s Scouting and Rankings team compares Pickett to former New York Jets first-round pick Sauce Gardner and writes this about him as a prospect:
“Pickett is a dynamic, explosive two-way playmaker who looks like one of the top defensive back prospects in the 2025 cycle, with the highest upside coming as a cornerback. A big-time two-way player as a receiver and defensive back. Tall and long with a thinner build, measuring at 6-foot-4, 179 pounds at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Has elite length for the position with 33 ⅝-inch arms. An extremely twitchy athlete who also excels in track and field. Turned in sensational marks in the 100 meters (10.62 seconds) and 200 meters (21.69 seconds) as a sophomore. A natural playmaker on Friday nights. Pairs his plus athleticism and easy movement skills with high level instincts and ball skills. Worked as a safety as an underclassman before playing corner as a senior. High-level ball production with at least four interceptions as a senior.”
