Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola has done well early on in his highly anticipated career in Lincoln. The former five-star quarterback hasn’t disappointed in his freshman campaign, bringing the Huskers wins over UTEP and Colorado. In the Cornhuskers’ win over Colorado on Saturday night, he completed 23 of 30 passes for 185 yards, while tossing in one touchdown and no interceptions.

Shortly after the win, his father, Dominic Raiola, who played in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, had a few words for the Buffaloes. “Still haven’t lost to Colorado,” he said. Raiola has his No. 54 jersey retired with Nebraska, after he earned consensus All-American honors in 2000.

Nebraska had several players contribute

Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola had an efficient outing on Saturday night, but there were plenty of others who chipped in. The Huskers rolled up 149 rushing yards on the Buffaloes’ defense, with running back Dante Dowdell leading the way with 17 carries, 74 rushing yards, and two touchdowns. Freshman speedster Jacory Barney Jr. had two carries for 28 rushing yards.

Huskers’ corner Tommie Hill stepped up and in a big way for their defensive unit.

He had one of the biggest momentum-flipping plays of the night, a backbreaking pick-six in the first quarter to put the Huskers up 14-0. With the Buffaloes backed up in their own end zone, Hill jumped the route, snatched it out of the air at the six-yard line, and he basically coasted into the end zone for the score.

Raiola bounced around from Texas and Arizona, eventually settling to play his senior year of high school football in Buford (Georgia). During his prep career, he put up prolific numbers, throwing for nearly 8,500 career passing yards with 88 touchdowns and only 11 interceptions.
