Donnie Freeman schedules official visit to Iowa, unofficial to Rutgers

Washington (D.C.) St. John’s Collegiate four-star Donnie Freeman tells On3 he will officially visit Iowa on September 15th-18th. It will be his first official visit.
Before the 6-foot-8, 190-pound power forward trips to see the Hawkeyes, he will unofficially visit Rutgers on August 23rd. He also made an unofficial visit to Maryland in late June.
The DMV native also holds offers from Alabama, Texas, Syracuse, George Mason, Xavier, Marquette, Syracuse, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, and others.
Donnie Freeman is ranked as the No. 31 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 6 power forward and the No. 1 player in DC.

Freeman talks his game, what he’s looking for in a school
“I try to be as versatile as possible,” Freeman told On3 in a previous interview. “I can rebound, guard the best player, handle the ball. I’m trying to do as much as I can on the court and always getting better. I watch a lot of Scottie Barnes and Paul George; they are always playing hard. I feel that motor and the versatility differentiate me in this class.”
What’s Freeman looking for in a school?
“I don’t want to force anything when it comes to schools,” Freeman said. “So I’m looking for something that just feels natural. I want to play for a player’s coach, someone who really cares for his players.
“It would always be nice to stay close to home, but I’m willing to wherever the best fit is to play in college. I want to go to a program that has a rich history of getting players to the league.”
