Former Kentucky guard Dontaie Allen transferred across the state to Western Kentucky this offseason, remaining in his home state. Now looking at the roster come together, he is calling for a revenge game against his old teammates and coaching staff.

In a tweet posted on Sunday morning, Dontaie Allen let his desire to face Kentucky be known. “So can we run the WKU-UK matchup back,” he wrote.

The two teams met in 2021 on Dec. 22, with Kentucky winning 95-60 in a runaway effort. However, even with a big lead, Allen did not play in the game. On his new team, he would likely play a much larger role.

Allen – a former On3 Consensus four-star recruit out of the Class of 2019 – didn’t see much playing time during his stint at Kentucky, averaging just 10.5 minutes per game over two seasons with the Wildcats. After averaging 5.4 points per game as a freshman in 2020-2021, Allen dropped down to just 2.2 points per game last season while only playing 6.4 minutes each outing.

More about Dontaie Allen

Dontaie Allen stayed in his home state, but just not with the same team. A Falmouth, Kentucky native, Allen made the decision to transfer from Kentucky to Western Kentucky – making the move from Lexington to Bowling Green to suit up for the Hilltoppers in 2022-2023. He announced the news in a video posted to his Twitter page last month.

Allen’s best game in a Kentucky jersey came on Jan. 2, 2021 in a win over Mississippi State, as he poured in 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting – including a 7-for-11 mark from three-point range. His best game during the 2021-2022 season was a 14-point performance in a victory against North Florida on Nov. 26.

A sharpshooting guard who scored 3,255 career points at Pendleton County High School, Allen gives WKU a much-needed scoring threat.
