Doryan Onwuchekwa is the No. 102 player in the 2024 On3 150. The 6-foot-9 post averaged 9.7 points and 7.0 rebounds playing for Drive Nation on this summer’s Nike EYBL 16u Circuit.

“I’m an inside-out player,” Onwuchekwa told On3. “I am a great rebounder; I can space the floor and knock down shots, and I’m an underrated passer. I watch a lot of people, but I watch a lot of Nikola Jokic, with his passing and how he uses his body.”

On3 caught up with Doryan Onwuchekwa after a recent live viewing to get an update on his recruitment.

Onwuchekwa talks recruitment

“I haven’t been on any visits yet,” Onwuchekwa said. “I’d say I’m hearing the most from TCU. I hear from SMU a good bit too.”

TCU: “They talk to me pretty regularly. They are trying to get me on campus and develop a relationship. They like how I can space the floor and that I can bang down low, too, with my size.”

SMU: “They tell me to be really active on the boards. They like that I can stretch the floor and play inside and out.”

“Of the schools who haven’t offered, I hear from like LSU and Cal too,” Onwuchekwa said.

In Onwuchekwa’s words

“My mom played basketball at North Texas,” Onwuchekwa said.

“I want to start taking visits around the springtime. I don’t have anything set yet, but probably be around then.

“I’ll want to play for a program that wins; that is really what matters to me. I’ll look at the culture of a program; I want to play in a culture of guys who are not just for themselves but want to win championships. I think I can adapt to any type of playstyle.”
