4-star SF Drew McKenna down to 3 schools
Drew McKenna, a four-star small forward in the 2024 class, has narrowed his list of schools down to three: Butler, Georgetown, and Xavier.
The 6-foot-8, 200-pound junior out of Ellicott City (Md.) Glenelg Country School has officially visited Georgetown, as well as a pair of unofficial trips to the Hoyas. He’s also unofficially visited Butler. McKenna does not currently have a timeline for a decision.
Along with his three finalists, McKenna also received offers from Illinois, Virginia Tech, Maryland, DePaul, Rutgers, Marquette, West Virginia, and others.
McKenna breaks down his final three schools
Georgetown: “What stands out about them is their family. A lot of people say they are about family but it is emphasized because coach Cooley loves his guys.
Butler: “Coach Matta is a legendary coach. He specializes with big wings and guards so that attracts me.”
Xavier: “They are a winning program and really know what they are doing. He has produced a lot of pros in my position.”

“I have an all-around game, helping the team in different ways,” McKenna told On3. “I can rebound, score, defend, pass, whatever I need. This season I’ve learned how to affect the game outside of just scoring. Previously, I was just a pure scorer, but I’ve expanded my game.”
McKenna also knows what he’s looking for in a college.
“I’m going to be looking for a school that can help me develop,” McKenna said. “Develop me in all aspects, really, as a better player and a better person. I want to play for a coach that believes in me and what I can do. I’ll be looking at what players like me they’ve coached, players they developed who play similar to how I play.”
Scouting Journal
“Drew McKenna has a lengthy frame, very fluid in how he moves. Runs the floor well. He has touch. Smooth looking stroke that is repeatable from multiple levels. Like to see him get stronger with the handle. Has some defensive upside, especially in the passing lanes. The jump shot was very nice.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
Johnson is the No. 63 overall prospect and No. 21 small forward in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Maryland.
