Duke cornerback Quentin Ajiero has entered his name into the transfer portal.

Ajiero did not appear as a freshman this past season for the Blue Devils. That led him to the redshirt, which would have made this his upcoming fall as his redshirt freshman season in Durham.

However, he will now be spending it elsewhere following his entry into the portal.

Ajiero played high school football at North Cobb as a native of Kennesaw, Georgia. He was a three-star prospect there as the No. 1,098 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranked at No. 105 both at his position at corner as well as out of the state.

Ajiero then arrived at Duke as part of their No. 60 class per On3’s 2023 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings. He was one of 27 commitments in the group, all of which were three-star talents.

Now, Ajiero is one of 19 transfers to leave Duke this offseason and one of the ones to exit during the spring cycle. This comes after Mike Elko left for Texas A&M and Manny Diaz became their next head coach. Of the group to depart in the portal, eight, including Ajiero, have been from the defense. He is one of four from the secondary in CBs Brandon Johnson (Oregon) and Jaden Watkins. They also lost S Isaiah Fisher-Smith.

As for additions, Duke has brought in nine transfers that make up the No. 66 class per On3’s 2024 Team Transfer Portal Rankings. Two of those are for the defense with each being linemen in Kendy Charles (Liberty) and Will Seiler (Penn). The highest-rated one is QB Maalik Murphy (Texas) who is No. 97 overall and is the No. 16 QB per On3’s 2024 Transfer Portal Top Players.
