Report: Dylan Disu bone bruise occurred vs. Penn State, forward tried to play through it
The Texas basketball team lost forward Dylan Disu just minutes into its Sweet 16 contest against Xavier due to a bone bruise, and more information has come to light about his injury.
According to Chip Brown of Horns247, Dylan Disu suffered a bone bruise against Penn State in the Round of 32, back on March 18. He was getting treatment on the injury but reinjured it in practice on Thursday before attempting to give it a go against Xavier.
As soon as he ran into some issues it became clear he wouldn’t be able to play.
Disu headed to the locker room after landing on his foot awkwardly early in the Xavier game.
But sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson also reported that on an early play where Disu got hit in the eye going for a rebound, he also landed awkwardly on the left foot. After heading to the bench to get the eye tended to, he ended up throwing his shoe and going to the locker room.
With the bone bruise a recent occurrence, Dylan Disu has started every game for Texas this season. His most recent performance was one of the best of his college career, a 28 point, 10 rebounds double-double against Penn State in the Round of 32.
The fifth-leading scorer for the Longhorns with 9.1 points per game, Disu is also the second-leading rebounder for Texas, pulling down more than four a game. He’s part of a front court that rotates a number of bodies through to contribute, but is consistently among the most productive players for Texas.

Texas playing in a familiar venue
One of the advantages for Texas in the Sweet 16 is getting the chance to play in the venue where the Big 12 Tournament — which Texas won — was played just a week or two ago.
“It feels good to be back. We have good memories and good energy within this gym and certain guys playing well,” veteran Brock Cunningham said. “The familiarity with the area and with the gym is something that’s going to make us more comfortable through this next game.”
That was one of the perks of Texas earning a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, they were slotted to the Midwest Region where the playing locations are a bit more familiar.
And while a court won’t make or break a tournament run, every little extra edge can matter.
“Like Brock said, obviously we have some good memories playing in this arena, and we’re definitely looking to carry that comfortability, that confidence over into this weekend as well,” guard Marcus Carr said.
