Kansas State has landed a commitment from Colorado transfer running back Dylan Edwards. He will have three years of eligibility remaining and can play immediately.

A Kansas native, he was committed to the Wildcats at one point in his high school recruitment. Plus his father, Leon, played running back at Kansas State in the 1990s. The running back entered the transfer portal this past week after just one season at Colorado.

Edwards arrived in Manhattan on Friday night for his official visit. He announced his commitment Sunday afternoon. Quarterback Avery Johnson has been one of the running back’s close friends since they were young. Johnson is viewed as one of the top young quarterbacks in the sport. He was even Edwards’ host for the weekend.

As On3 reported this past week, Nebraska and Texas A&M made efforts to land the tailback. Ole Miss reached out, too, but it was always unlikely the Rebels would have room for another running back. K-State always made sense, and sources said the visit went extremely well.

Dylan Edwards can also make an immediate impact in the Wildcats’ rushing attack. He carried the ball 76 times for 321 yards, while also grabbing 36 catches for 299 yards and four touchdowns as a true freshman in 2023. The running back was expected to play an even bigger role in 2024 for Deion Sanders and Colorado until he decided to enter the portal.

Kansas State returns running back DJ Giddens in 2024. He rushed for 1,226 on 223 carries and 10 touchdowns last season. Edwards provides another option but can be used in the slot in Johnson’s first season with the Wildcats.
