INTEL: Ranking the contenders for four-star Dylan James
Dylan James was one of the big risers this summer. The explosive 6-foot-8 forward is now the 2023 On3 Consensus No. 114 player.
James issued a top five at the beginning of August; Iona, VCU, Georgia, UCF, and Georgia Tech. The four-star has taken three official visits, Georgia in June, VCU, and then UCF in September.
Let’s go through all the intel and rank the contenders for four-star Dylan James.
1. Georgia
Georgia offered in June, and he visited in July. James had a previous relationship with Mike White and the staff when they offered him while at Florida.
Georgia’s chances: 90 percent
2. VCU
VCU is the school that has been on him the longest of the programs he visited. By all accounts, the visit went well – it’s hard to have a bad official visit – and they answered any questions James had.
VCU’s chances: 5 percent
3. UCF
UCF is the local school. They are also moving to the BIG 12 soon; both caught James’s eye. UCF also got the last visit.

Final thoughts
While UCF got the final visit, Dylan James’s first official visit was to Georgia. New Bulldog head coach Mike White first offered James in July of 2021, while at Florida; the Georgia staff has had time to build a previous relationship there.
Georgia playing in the SEC played a role here, and their plan for James checked out as well.
