Chandler (Ariz.) Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Dylan Raiola took everyone by surprise last month when he decommitted from Ohio State.

The nation’s No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2024, Raiola had pledged to the Buckeyes in May over USC, Georgia and a handful of other programs. But after feeling like he rushed into the initial commitment, Raiola now wants to take his time and make the right decision. Coaches from across the country have been in contact with him, but two teams are high on his list right now, according to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons: USC and Georgia.

“Georgia, obviously is a team to watch here,” Simmons said on Monday during On3’s Inside Scoop recruiting show. “At this time a year ago, Georgia was probably trending as the top school for Dylan Raiola. Other schools got involved — USC, Ohio State — and he obviously committed to the Buckeyes. But Georgia has never went away. There has always been communication, and yes they have a commit at the quarterback position, but Raiola is still a prime target.

… I think Lincoln Riley and USC have gotten back in the mix, and they are the main two. Of course he is a Nebraska legacy, and there’s a lot of chatter about Matt Rhule waiting to take another quarterback until Raiola comes off the board. But I don’t think Nebraska is a true contender at this time.”

Dylan Raiola Scouting Summary

“Advanced arm talent with the ability to make a wide variety of high-level throws as a high school underclassman. Looks like the top quarterback prospect and overall arm talent in the 2024 cycle early on. Physically developed at around 6-foot-3, 210 pounds. Has a natural, loose throwing motion with unique arm dexterity to deliver off-platform and from multiple arm slots. Already has a deep catalog of throws as a rising junior in high school. Easily drives the ball to all levels of the field.

… Played both under center and in the shotgun as a sophomore. Ahead of the curve as a ball-handler and in the quick passing game. Shows good footwork and awareness in the pocket. Capable of creative plays in the face of pressure. Primarily a pass-first quarterback as a sophomore, not running for many yards. Turned in one of the more productive sophomore seasons among top 2024 quarterbacks. The son of 14-year NFL center Dominic Raiola. Also a standout baseball player as a pitcher and catcher.” — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
