If there is one name to know right now in the 2024 recruiting cycle, it is Chandler (Ariz.) High five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola.

Raiola is the No. 1 recruit in the 2024 On300 ranking, one of three five-star players in the class and the only quarterback.

He burst onto the scene as a sophomore at Burleson (Texas) High, playing for former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna and throwing for 3,341 yards against some of the top competition in the state.

“Dylan Raiola can do much more than deliver from a defined, set platform. His quick, loose arm allows for the ability to make some impressive off-platform throws from outside of structure,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said. “The arm talent combines with a natural feel for the pass rush, quick feet and field vision to result in some high-difficulty reactive plays.”

But Raiola’s impact as the No. 1 recruit goes beyond the X’s and O’s. He has the potential to be a need-to-know player for years to come.

Dylan Raiola is from a football family

Dylan Raiola has an impressive athletic pedigree that starts with his father, Dominic Raiola.

Dominic was an offensive lineman for Nebraska from 1998-2000. He started as a freshman and moved to his center as a sophomore. He finished his career with one of the most impressive seasons for an offensive lineman in Cornhuskers history, being named a consensus All-American and winning the Rimington Trophy for best center in college football.

Raiola was drafted in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft played 14 years the Detroit Lions. Raiola became the first player in franchise history to play in 200 games with the team.

“The best teammate I’ve ever played with, no question,” Matthew Stafford said of Dominic Raiola after he retired.

Dominic Raiola is not the only elite athlete in the Raiola clan. Dylan’s mother, Yvonne, played water polo for Hawaii. His sister, Taylor, is an outside hitter on the TCU volleyball team. She notched 186 kills over her first two seasons for the Horned Frogs.

His uncle is current Nebraska offensive line coach Donovan Raiola. Donovan played football at Wisconsin, where he was a captain as a senior, before embarking on a professional career that included multiple stints on practice squads.

On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Ohio State and USC as the current favorites

It is still early in Dylan Raiola’s recruitment, but the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has two teams leading the charge in his recruitment.

Ohio State is the current leader with a 45.9% chance with USC coming up in second at 38.1%. It is then a steep drop off to the next group of teams: Clemson, Georgia, Nebraska and Texas.

He has visited Ohio State twice and only USC once. He has been to Texas, Nebraska and Georgia for three different visits.

Other teams to have received visits from Raiola include Alabama, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Oregon, according to the On3 Visit Center.

RPM was released to the public in December 2021. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits, and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Dylan Raiola has an On3 NIL Valuation nearing 6 figures

Dylan Raiola’s On3 NIL Valuation near the beginning of April is $94k, which is 14th in the On3 High School Football NIL Rankings.

That is the highest Valuation for any prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

His Valuation is likely to increase as he inches towards college. The three five-star quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle all have On3 NIL Valuations of at least $350,000.

The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
