EA Sports College Football 26 reveal trailer

Two days after dropping the covers for the 2026 edition of the video game, EA Sports College Football released the official reveal trailer, giving an inside look at what gameplay will look like when the game drops on July 10.

Among the highlights of the trailer released on Thursday, the song “Enter Sandman” from Metallica is now in the game, giving users the full experience of Virginia Tech’s entrance at Lane Stadium. Notably, college football coaches will be in the 2026 edition of the game. When EA Sports College Football made its return after more than a decade, coaches were notably not in the game. Instead, generic coaches were on the sidelines with players.

Fans get the first look at Ohio State’s Ryan Day, Texas’ Steve Sarkisian and Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman. EA has also gone all-in on getting the primetime effect, with drone shows now included in the game. In total, over 300 real-life coaches will be in the game.

The trailer also spends time highlighting some of the top players in the college game, including Texas quarterback Arch Manning, Ohio State wideout Jeremiah Smith and Oregon EDGE Matayo Uiagalelei.

The first look at the game also provides the first real look at the return of high school in the game. Sources previously confirmed to On3 that a high school feature will be in the game. According to EA, users will be able to “Build your highlight tape to earn an offer from your dream school. Rise in class rankings and secure scholarships before other recruits.”

EA is also including hats on a table in the game, allowing users to commit by the famous hat ceremony or decommit during the high school recruitment. Ten new archetypes will be available for users to craft their player.

In a release on Thursday, EA also said it is making a concerted effort to make a “more unpredictable transfer portal” in dynasty mode. EA Sports College Football 26 will also now support cross-play on dynasty mode. Xbox and PlayStation users will now be able to join each other.

The original EA college football video game franchise ran from 1998 until 2013. Moving from the Bill Walsh College Football moniker to NCAA Football, the annual game was eventually discontinued. The game returned in July for the first time in more than a decade. Now the game is returning for its second consecutive year.

EA announced last fall that the College Football 25 franchise was the largest new console game launch in North America in 2024. EA also announced the video game had seen 6.5 million unique players to date. Quick math shows EA brought in more than $400 million in sales from the game.
