Early CFB odds: 2024 point spread released for Texas A&M vs. Notre Dame
Texas A&M and Notre Dame will kick off their respective 2024 football seasons with a matchup against one another, as the Aggies will host the Fighting Irish on the Saturday before Labor Day.
The actual game is still far in the future, but that hasn’t stopped the sports gambling world from diving into the matchup to produce an early point spread that folks can bet on right now in January, a good eight months before the season actually begins.
So, according to FanDuel’s very early prognostications, A&M is the slight home favorite by a 1.5-point line. They also get the small nod on the money line at -118, while Notre Dame is nearly dead even at -102. The over/under is set at 50.5 total points.
FanDuel expects a very tight contest to open up A&M’s home slate in Kyle Field next fall, which will also be the very first game for new head coach Mike Elko. Of course, he was the choice for Texas A&M brass after they decided to swallow the massive buyout in order to fire former coach Jimbo Fisher following a second straight season featuring extremely disappointing results under his guide.
Despite the change in coach and some roster turnover, there appears to be optimism from the sharps out in Las Vegas that the Aggies’ 12th man and new regime can pull through for what would be a massive marquee win to open up the year. But there’s also plenty of respect for Notre Dame, who is just barely the underdog and viewed as a very possible winner in this ballgame even though they’re the ones making the long trip south to play in an SEC road environment — one of the biggest and loudest at that.

For the Irish, Marcus Freeman heads into year three coming off a pair of mildly successful years in 2021 and 2022 — though, not seasons quite as strong as they experienced during Brian Kelly’s best days.
Heading into 2023, though, the Irish boast another elite transfer QB from the ACC in Riley Leonard, who was excellent when he played at Duke, but was sidelined off and on during the Devils’ 2023 season. Coincidentally, his coach at Duke was none other than Mike Elko, who now heads A&M.
It’s a small world in college football and the former Duke quarterback will face off against the former Duke coach in a game between Notre Dame and Texas A&M. That ought to be a good one.
