Following the debacle with Bethune-Cookman, former Miami Hurricanes and NFL star Ed Reed revealed that he turned down head coaching jobs at Grambling State and Jackson State before choosing to go to Bethune-Cookman.

In the video that Reed made, he explained that he turned down Grambling State in 2021. Meanwhile, according to Reed, Deion Sanders reached out to him personally after making the move over to Colorado.

You can watch the video, here:

“I turned down the Jackson State job to come here, Roland Martin,” Ed Reed shouted. “Prime called me. Deion Sanders called me himself.”

Ed Reed was visibly frustrated with the situation and genuinely seemed to want to be the next head coach at Bethune-Cookman.

Grambling State is currently coached by former NFL head coach Hue Jackson. Meanwhile, Jackson State promoted T.C. Taylor to the role of head coach.

In December, it was reported that Ed Reed would be the next head coach at Bethune-Cookman. However, he wasn’t formally announced while the two sides worked on his contract. Still, he started taking on responsibilities, which suddenly included picking up trash.

That, in turn, led to an NSFW rant and apology from Ed Reed. Less than a week later, Reed was no longer going to be the next head coach at Bethune-Cookman.

Video emerged of meeting between Reed, Bethune-Cookman team

After the news broke that Ed Reed would no longer be coaching Bethune-Cookman, he met with the team to explain what had happened. During that passionate speech, Reed made it clear that he didn’t want to go.

“You know I don’t want to leave. Like I told you, I want all these recruits. There’s some corrupt people in this world. Some evil people that don’t care about kids like I do. So I want y’all to hear the truth from me. I ain’t withdrawing my name. I’ve got the receipts,” Reed said.

“They got all kind of stuff going on ’round here. Hoarding these buildings with nothing but trash in them. Y’all understand me? Deion [Sanders] was right. I know I’m right. They got some people in here who be snitching to they a–I work amongst Judas as Jesus walked with him. I ain’t have a problem with it. Because even Jesus prevailed. What God got for you, no man can take.”
