WATCH: Eddie Robinson Jr. calls out Deion Sanders following hostile postgame moment
There was no love lost over the weekend between Jackson State and Alabama State. The conference rivals clashed on Saturday with the Tigers taking home the 26-12 victory. However, fireworks went off after the game with some shoving between head coaches Deion Sanders and Eddie Robinson Jr.
Robinson Jr. attributed the pushing to the disrespect he says Sanders showed him and his team throughout the week, before the game, and during the contest. He continued on in his postgame press conference with shots at the Hall of Famer throughout.

“I thought it was a lot of disrespect the whole week,” said Robinson Jr. “In the postgame, I’m not about to give you the bro hug. I’m gonna shake your hand and I’m gonna go home…I’m living on the shoulders of the SWAC. He ain’t SWAC. I’m SWAC. He ain’t SWAC…You’re not gonna come here and disrespect me, my team, and my school and then want to bro hug. Shake my hand and get the hell on.”
It wasn’t just his perception of antics by Sanders that Robinson Jr. didn’t appreciate. There were moments throughout the game where he felt Sanders was doing too much. All of that on top of the week of what he judged as disrespect is what led to the shoving match.

“We handshaked and that was it. Ain’t no need for no embrace. We ain’t friends. He ain’t never called me, I ain’t ever called him,” Robinson Jr. said. “You want to do that? Don’t come at me and try to bro hug me like we’re friends. We ain’t friends. You didn’t shake my hand before the game so why do you want to shake my hand after the game? Period. That’s it.”
Robinson went as far to say he hopes Sanders remains at Jackson State so their paths can cross again. After this exchange, it seems like it would be quite the war of words as much as it would be on the field between these two programs if that were to take place.
