The Manning Cast, with brothers Eli and Peyton Manning, is an entertaining watch for ESPNs’ Monday Night Football. The Mannings take turns poking fun at each other, and tonight it was Peyton who took advantage of this error by Eli.

In tonight’s game between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers, Rams defensive tackle and reigning defensive player of the year Aaron Donald, broke through the 49er’s offensive line virtually untouched. In doing so he completely disrupted San Fransisco’s play in the backfield resulting in a loss of one on second down. Eli, in the critique of the 49ers offensive line, said “you might want to block Aaron Darnold.

Peyton caught his younger brother’s mistake and helped correct it while poking a little fun at him.

“Or Donald, either one,” he said to point out the incorrect pronunciation of the last name.

After a little back and forth between the two, Eli gave this hilarious explanation for the error.

“They thought he was Darnold that’s why they didn’t block him. If they knew he was Donald, they would’ve blocked him,” said Eli.

The Manning Cast Curse

The ESPN alternate Monday Night Football broadcast fondly referred to as the Manning Cast, has risen in popularity thanks to stacked guest lists.

Eli Manning and Peyton Manning hosted the likes of Nick Saban, Marshawn Lynch, Rob Gronkowski, Josh Allen, and more through Week 9. The candid conversations, with a side of in-depth football breakdowns, are a refreshing departure from play-by-play commentary.

However, there is an unfortunate phenomenon developing – a trend NFL fans picked up on following their Week 8 broadcast. Big-name current players who’ve participated in the Manning Cast are a combined 0-6 in their following games.

Travis Kelce, Russell Wilson, Rob Gronkowski, Matthew Stafford, Tom Brady, and Josh Allen all lost after appearing. Gronk and Wilson also suffered injuries in their ensuing games.

Half a season in and the Manning Cast curse is already achieving Madden cover curse levels of infamy.

There won’t be a test case for the curse since none of the Week 10 guests are in the NFL. However, Draymond Green should stay on his toes. The Golden State Warriors take on the Brooklyn Nets at 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
