During the media blitz of Super Bowl week, Eli Manning appeared on the Great Dane Nation podcast hosted by Pro Football Hall of Famer Morten Andersen to talk about all sorts of football topics.

One of those discussion points was Manning’s nephew, Five-Star Plus+ prospect and the 2023 No. 1 overall recruit Arch Manning.

“Obviously, he’s been (on) visits to Georgia, Alabama and Ole Miss and Texas,” Eli Manning said. “It’s hard to go wrong if you pick one of those.”

Anderson also asked how badly Eli Manning wants his nephew to become the latest in the Manning dynasty to attend Ole Miss, which he and his father Archie Manning attended.

Manning answered the question without answering the question.

“I’ll treat it just how my dad treated me when I was making my decision,” Manning said. “It’s all based on the kid and who he has a great relationships with, what coaches, what city and school where he feels he’ll be comfortable and grow and be the player he wants to be and the student he wants to be. It’s all up to him and his feel. We’ll support him and whatever school he goes to for those four years, if it’s not Ole Miss, hey, I’ll be a fan for a brief moment for those four years.”

Arch Manning is the cream of the 2023 crop

The 2023 recruiting cycle is one of the best quarterback classes in recent memory with three of the top four players in the On3 Consensus playing the position.

In addition to Arch Manning, Los Alamitos (Calif.) Five-Star Plus+ gunslinger Malachi Nelson and Downey (Calif.) Warren Nico Iamaleava rank No. 2 and No. 4 in the nation, respectively.

The only non-quarterback in the top four is Lakeland (Fla.) Lake Gibson Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Cormani McClain.

“What makes this group so unique is that Arch, Malachi and Nico are so easily identifiable at this early stage as a top talent,” On3s Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said. “A lot of times at quarterback, we see talent manifest throughout their high school careers, or the top physical traits blossom a little later. I’m talking about guys like (Penn State 2022 signee) Drew Allar, who reshaped his body and made mechanical adjustments during his senior year. But these three are guys that we’ve known about for a while, and it’s already apparent they’re the real deal.”
