Elite 11 finalist Tevin Carter commits to hometown Memphis Tigers
Tevin Carter, an Elite 11 finalist from Memphis PURE Academy, is staying home to play for the Memphis Tigers.
Carter, who is 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds, committed to the Tigers Wednesday over offers from nearly 20 schools. He took visits to Memphis, Georgia Tech and Ole Miss before making his decision.
Tevin Carter also reportedly had offers from Auburn, Baylor, Eastern Kentucky, Florida State, LSU, Louisiana-Monroe, Marshall, Maryland, Michigan, South Carolina, Tennessee, Tennessee State, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and Arkansas.
“I trusted the process,” Carter said on social media when announcing his commitment.
By picking the Tigers, Tevin Carter becomes one of the highest-rated local commits in program history.

Carter was the first starting quarterback ever for the PURE Youth football program, which had its inaugural season in 2020. PURE Youth is a nonprofit boarding school in Memphis focusing on at-risk youth in the Memphis area.
The Memphis coaching staff, including head coach Ryan Silverfield, took to social media after Carter’s announcement to let the world know they were excited about the news from the local star.
