Sammy Brown: Elite 2024 athlete receives All-American game invites
Jefferson (Ga.) High sophomore linebacker/running back Sammy Brown sports a mullet that has the attention of a lot of people in northeast Georgia.
Similarly, Trevor Lawrence had a famous head of hair going into his college career. Brown and Lawrence now have a second thing in common as prep stars.
Brown has been invited to the 2024 All-American Bowl and Under Armour All-American game.
“I remember seeing Trevor Lawrence play in that and some of those other really high ranked recruits that are in the NFL right now playing in it,” Brown said. “It’s really inspiring to know that I’m on the same level as them.”
Sammy Brown accepting recruiting responsibility
Sammy Brown has proven to be one of the nation’s elite prospects in the class of 2024 already. He has been ranked by some services as one of the top five players in the country and is expected to be highly ranked when On3 releases its 2024 rankings in the future.
As the son of a coach, Brown already understands the sport and what it means to be a talented player.
As a result, he knows that being a player that a team counts on to make plays also comes with the responsibility of living leadership on the field at practice and off the field.
“Having that great honor comes great responsibility,” Brown said. “I really try to go out in practice and try to be the best that I can be. I want to go 100% all the time. Nothing really changes. It’s just about trying to be the best that you can be at all times.”
Brown is now teammates with On3’s No. 9 player in the class of 2022 Malaki Starks. Starks, a Georgia commitment, has provided an example for Brown in how an elite player should approach leadership.

Coincidently, Starks provides Jefferson with more than a dynamic playmaker on offense and defense.
Brown is watching and paying attention.
“It’s been really good to see how he does it,” Brown said. “He comes out here and he works every day. He makes sure that everyone is getting better and not just himself. It’s been good what other big leaders do.”
Recruiting plans for the fall
Sammy Brown took a bunch of visits in the summer. He went to Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia and Ole Miss for camps and unofficial visits.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound athlete came away impressed with nearly every campus he stepped foot on this summer.
“All the schools I went to, at first glance, are amazing,” Brown said. “They all have great facilities, good people. There wasn’t a school I liked more than the other.”
Brown says he wants to get back to each of the schools that have offered him for a game this fall. He doesn’t have plans set in stone. He holds offers from Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Virginia.
Brown said one of the first games he attends will likely be a Georgia game. The Georgia campus is about 30 miles from Brown’s Jefferson home.
