Trentyn Flowers has been one of the most impressive 2024 prospects I’ve seen out on the road this summer. At 6-foot-8, the rising junior can handle the ball, playmake for his teammates, score from the perimeter, or post smaller guards on the block. Flowers is extremely versatile and a do-it-all type of guard. The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – ranks Flowers as the No. 11 overall prospect in the 2024 class, and the No. 4 ranked small forward.

A total of 17 schools have already offered Flowers, including Kansas, Michigan, Memphis, Tennesse, Auburn, Alabama, and others.

In an interview with On3, Flowers discussed the early stages of his recruitment process and much more.

Which schools are the most involved with you right now?

Texas Tech, TCU, Kentucky, UNC, Duke, Oregon, UCLA.

Do you plan to take any college visits this summer?

As of right now, I’m planning to set up a visit at Georgia State. Coach (Jonas) Hayes is my guy. He was at Xavier, and I’ve visited campus a couple of times and went to a couple games. I feel like I’ve built a good relationship with him. Even though Georgia State is a mid-major, it’s still a great school. I feel like a player like me, could really take them to the top. So I’m going to look into Georgia State.

I also want to get out to UNC, a few blue bloods, Kansas.

Did you have a dream school?

Duke. Duke was my dream school growing up. That offer would mean the world. That’s a big offer. Just growing up, I watched a lot of Jayson Tatum and Grant Hill. Being able to go to Duke and put on that blue, it’s just an honor. The legacy they’ve had, how many wins they’ve had over the years, it’s amazing to watch. What wouldn’t you want in a program like that?

Who’s been recruiting you at Kentucky?

I’d say Coach Cal, he’s been in to watch a few of my games now. Coach Orlando (Antigua) has been big on me though. So yeah, we talk a little bit.

What about at North Carolina?

I’ve talked with Sean May and he says he likes my game, so yeah, we talk a little bit too.

Do you try to model your game after any player in particular?

Penny Hardaway, Tracy McGrady, Cade Cunningham, any big guard I just try to model my game after.

Who would you like to team-up with in college?

I play with Isaiah (Elohim) right now at Sierra Canyon and that’s my boy so it would be cool to team up with him. And Anthony Gilkes, that’s my man.

Has the pro route become an option for you?

Overtime has been in contact with me a little bit. G-League Ignite, it’s kind of early. There’s been some speculation, so. On Overtime Elite, it’s too early in to look at it. They just started last year so I’m going to see how that one goes over the next couple of years.

G-league Ignite, they just produced Jalen Green and my guy, Jonathan Kuminga, so they’re in the NBA and they’re on the inside. I think my dad, he’s bigger on the college side. I’m with either or. If I can really build my fan base at a good school, I’d really prefer that.
