Garner (N.C.) South four-star EDGE Ebenezer Ewetade is one of the nation’s top defensive prospects, according to the 2026 On300. He’s now down to five schools.

Ewetade told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Wednesday that he’s down to Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, NC State and Notre Dame. Additionally, he’s locked in four official visit dates to each of his finalists except the Wolfpack.

Trips to FSU (May 30), Georgia (June 6), Alabama (June 13) and Notre Dame (June 20) have been set. His OV date with NC State is still to be determined.

Ewetade is the No. 187 overall prospect and No. 21 EDGE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 11 player in North Carolina.

On3 ranks Ewetade higher than other recruiting services. He checks in as the No. 36 recruit, No. 6 EDGE and No. 5 player in North Carolina in the updated 2026 On300.

“It’s a blessing,” Ewetade told On3’s Chad Simmons last month. “It’s a dream come true. I’ve always been praying for something like this since I was in third grade. It’s a blessing that I have the opportunity to go to school for free and bless myself and my family.”

Ewetade talks some of his finalists

When speaking with On3 in February, Ewetade dove in on his interest in Alabama, Georgia and Notre Dame:

Alabama: “Alabama caught my attention when coach Christian Robinson came up and he talked to me. We built a relationship. He broke down how the defense runs and how I would fit into the program. I’ve talked to him a couple times on the phone. I like the relationship we’re building.”

Georgia: “The defensive linemen there produce. It’s amazing. That would be a good school for me for development. Coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe is amazing at what he does. Tray Scott is one of the best coaches at developing players. They have a good culture down there and a winning culture. They’ve been to the national championship and my old high school teammate goes there. That is a plus.”

Notre Dame: “Before I went there, I had already been communicating with the coaches and the general manager. We had already built a relationship and me getting up there and seeing their faces was great. I already knew who they were and me and them have built a real bond. I loved it up there and that was by far one of my favorite visits … “What stood out to me there was the hospitality,” he added. “They came up to me, talked to me and got to know me.”
