Elliot Cadeau is the No. 10 player in the 2024 On3 Consensus. Listed at 6-foot-2, the point guard averaged 21.3 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.2 steals on 52.0 percent shooting from the field while playing for Sweden during this Summer’s FIBA Europe u16 Division B. He transferred to Branson (MO) Link Academy this season.

Cadeau issued a top six in late October, Kansas, Louisville, North Carolina, Syracuse, Texas, and Texas Tech. Cadeau has taken three official visits, Louisville, North Carolina, and Texas Tech. He does not have any others planned and has announced he would be making a decision soon.

Cadeau’s recruitment

While Elliot Cadeau has issued a top six and taken three official visits, intel suggests this recruitment has been a two-team race for a while.

Texas Tech, interestingly enough, was an early favorite because Cadeau was very open about him growing up a fan of the Red Raiders. Cadeau told On3 back in July, “They were my dream school when I was a little kid.”

When talking with Cadeau, he says that he fell in love with the team during Chris Beard’s run to the NCAA Tournament finals. When coming back from his late August visit to Lubbock, Cadeau would use words like “family,” and he would talk about the relationship he built with the staff. Texas Tech was one of the first schools to start recruiting the On3 Consensus four-star.

UNC offered Cadeau in late July. Sources indicate that since that point, the Tar Heels made the point guard a priority. The two things Cadeau consistently mentioned about North Carolina are, first off, the style of play and how it is conducive to point guards. Secondly, he consistently talks about his relationship with Hubert Davis.

While this recruitment is not over, it can be considered a two-team race. Cadeau admittedly grew up a fan of Texas Tech, going as far as to call it his dream school. However, sources close to the situation indicate to watch for the Tar Heels as they have momentum heading down the homestretch of this recruitment.

Another twist for Cadeau

Something to watch for in this recruitment is whether Elliot Cadeau will enroll in the class of 2023 or 2024. There has been some buzz around the point guard possibly enrolling early.

In speaking with Cadeau, this is something that has been brought up with the programs. While he will be committing to a program as part of the 2024 class, there is a possibility of enrolling in 2023 if things shake out a certain way.

With a public commitment coming soon, the timing of this reclassification will not be when he commits to a school. Of course, with him leaving open the possibility of 2023 or 2024, this is a scenario that could play out until after Peach Jam (late July).
