The Indianapolis Colts made Anthony Richardson the fourth overall pick and the third quarterback taken in the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday night. It was an incredibly emotional moment for the talented young quarterback out of Florida.

After he was selected, Richardson was able to reconnect with a childhood friend of his, Ja’Quavion Fraziars. There, in their emotional meeting, the pair spoke about life from AAU basketball to playing together at Florida.

Watch Anthony Richardson reconnect with a lifelong friend of his, here:

“What is this? Is this gonna make me cry?” Anthony Richardson asked when he first walked into the room where he had a video call with Ja’Quavion Fraziars. By the end of the video, Richardson was clearly emotional.

“Life treating you good, bro. I see it. I’m saying keep going. Please, keep going,” Fraziars said before the pair said they love each other.

After the call was over, a clearly emotional Anthony Richardson spoke about how important that relationship has been to him. It’s one of many relationships that helped him get to this point in his life, being selected in the NFL Draft.

Billy Napier on Anthony Richardson

After Anthony Richardson was drafted by the Colts, his head coach at Florida, Billy Napier, praised the young signal caller. Napier even went on to say that he’s going to be a great Colt.

“I’m just really proud of Anthony. A product of a lot of hard work. Now, the fun stuff begins. I think Anthony is really looking forward to the opportunity to impact an organization, be a great teammate, set an example with his work ethic and approach,” Napier said.

“I’ve watched this guy for a year now and it’s been fun to watch, but also great to know as a person. The best is truly yet to come here. This guy’s best football is in front of him. Really happy for his family and all of the people that contributed. A unique young man and unique story and couldn’t be more happy for him and his family.”

Billy Napier went on to explain what Indianapolis is getting with Anthony Richardson both on and off the field.

“First of all, a loyal teammate. A guy that takes great pride in doing his job for the team. He’s going to be a great representative of the organization and community. Really just a unique talent. Arm talent, phenomenal athlete. 6-4, 250 pounds,” Napier explained.

“There’s not been many players like Anthony Richardson in the history of this game. I’m excited. He’s found a group that believed in him and wants to build around him. Anthony is going to be a great Colt.”
