ESPN’s Dick Vitale has provided an update on his health amidst his ongoing battle with cancer.

On Thursday, Vitale posted on Twitter in saying that he has a scan a week from today to determine if he is cancer-free. With that, he requested prayers for another important moment in his recovery.

“Many ask about my status -Dec 12 I have a full body scan that will determine if cancer free,” Vitale tweeted. “(Pray) for good news as I feel terrific but have lots of anxiety about the exam. Cancer patients I’m sure know that feeling.”

Vitale posted something similar on Tuesday with ESPN focusing some coverage on him in the midst of V-Week, which began on Monday.

“I am touched tonight seeing this video from my buddies @espn I’m constantly thinking about Dec 12 when I have a major scan to determine if I’m cancer-free after my recent 30 radiation treatments,” wrote Vitale with several praying emojis. “If I am it would be my NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!”

Vitale has been battling several health-related issues over the last few years. That includes cancers like lymphoma and melanoma along with problems with his voice with cancer on his cords as well as vocal cord dysplasia.

With that, Vitale has been unable to call many, if any, games across college basketball over that time.

Now, all that can be done is wait to see what Vitale’s diagnosis is following his results next week. He’ll continue to be in the sport’s thoughts, though, especially amidst V-Week at ESPN through December 15th.
