ESPN analysts Dan Mullen, Booger McFarland provide early keys to Michigan vs. Texas
The college football game of the week in Week 2 is Michigan vs. Texas at The Big House in Ann Arbor. And a pair of college football experts stopped to break it down on Sunday night.
While speaking at halftime of the LSU vs. USC game, former Florida coach Dan Mullen and former LSU standout Booger McFarland broke down some of their early keys.
Both pinned it down to how physical Texas can be.
“Well we talk about how does Texas fit in the SEC, and we say they fit very well,” McFarland said. “Well they’re going to get tested, because you know Sherrone Moore is going to run the football and see if the Longhorns can hold up against the run. With the running quarterback, if you’re Texas you’ve got to be able to push the ball down the field.”

Mullen agreed with that assessment for Michigan vs. Texas, doubling down on the idea that the more physical team will win.
But he thinks Texas is likely to hold up just fine.
“Their defense was very impressive playing Colorado State yesterday,” Mullen said. “I was really impressed with how they played. But it’ll be a different test and a different physicality this week.”

ESPN College GameDay going to Ann Arbor
College GameDay will head to the biggest game of Week 2 when the ESPN pregame show makes a stop in Ann Arbor for Michigan vs. Texas.
The defending national champs host last year’s Big 12 champs and College Football Playoff participants. Of course, Texas is now an SEC opponent coming to the north.
It’ll be a new era for Michigan football under new head coach Sherrone Moore. Michigan AD Warde Manuel became convinced that Moore was ready to be a head coach following last year’s Penn State game.
“You know, you don’t often get an opportunity to watch somebody perform in a role, and because of the circumstances, I had the opportunity to watch him on the sidelines as the acting head coach for four games,” Warde Manuel recently told The Michigan Insider. “And I was impressed with what and how he managed and handled the team, handled the challenges that were thrust upon him, particularly in the Penn State game.”
