Blake Shapen had been a big factor in the game as a runner, taking some shots throughout the course of the contest. A few left him a little slow to get up.

Statistically, Shapen had gone 13-of-21 passing for 140 yards and a touchdown, without an interception. He also ran 12 times for 32 yards and a score.

So far this season, Shapen has been the only one really keying the offense for Jeff Lebby and the Bulldogs. He had started the team’s first three games of the season.

Going into Saturday’s game against Florida, Blake Shapen had accounted for 61-of-87 passing for 834 yards, with seven touchdowns and just one interception. He’d also run for a touchdown.

That came on the heels of a three-season playing career at Baylor, where he starred. Shapen threw for 5,574 yards and 36 touchdowns, against 13 interceptions.

Mississippi State faces Texas on the road next week, so getting Blake Shapen back healthy in a hurry will be of the utmost importance for the Bulldogs.
