Week 4: Huge Upsets

One of the biggest upsets of the weekend was NC State defeating Clemson. This season, Clemson has continued to struggle offensively — and they shockingly slid out of the Top 25 in ESPN’s rankings. Also, Georgia Tech beat North Carolina on Saturday — putting another dent in the ACC.

Moreover, Baylor snuck away with a 31-29 victory over Iowa State to send the Cyclones to 2-2. Elsewhere, Kansas State was the fourth ranked team to lose on Saturday — they lost to Oklahoma State 31-20, falling tp to 3-1 on the season.

Furthermore, this weekend saw two Top 25 matchups. Notre Dame completely dominated Wisconsin inside Chicago’s Soldier Field, while Arkansas also improved to 4-0 with a 20-10 victory over Texas A&M.

While it was close, Oklahoma, Michigan, Michigan State and Auburn also squeaked out victories.

Oklahoma’s offense struggled, but they found enough to get a 16-13 victory over West Virginia. Michigan was shut out in the second half against Rutgers, but the Wolverines came away with a 20-13 win.

Kirk Herbstreit Agrees

Today, Kirk Herbstreit revealed his top-six teams in college football so far this season. Additionally, it looks similar to ESPN’s power rankings.

Herbstreit agrees with the top four — he also has Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Penn State at the top. However, he has Cincinnati and Florida rounding out his top-six.

As the season progresses, we’ll continue to see ESPN and Herbstreit’s power rankings move up and down. This weekend especially possesses chaos potential — Alabama takes on Ole Miss, and Georgia takes on Arkansas.
