Tebow Can’t Wait for Tennessee vs Oklahoma

ESPN College GameDay will have a little country music feel to it on Saturday. Country star Blake Shelton has been named the Celebrity Guest Picker for the college football pregame show, which will take place in Norman, Oklahoma ahead of the Oklahoma vs. Tennessee matchup.

“Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, he’s a country music icon. … He’s an Oklahoman. And I’d like to formally announce, this weekend, on College GameDay, live from Oklahoma’s first SEC game against the University of Tennessee Volunteers, he will be the celebrity guest picker — Blake Shelton,” Pat McAfee said.

Blake Shelton is one of the biggest stars in country music and he has also starred on The Voice.

He joked that he was surprised to get the nod as the Celebrity Guest Picker for ESPN College GameDay.

“Man, you guys are desperate if you need me to come out and make the picks,” Blake Shelton said. “I’m honored, though. Trust me, I’m honored to do it.”

Not long after Pat McAfee shared the news, ESPN College GameDay also made the announcement.

Shelton told Pat McAfee that he is an Oklahoma fan, but he admitted that he doesn’t watch a ton of college football.

Shelton was out hunting with some buddies when he got a text from McAfee about being the guest picker.

“Listen, I told all the guys at the camp here we’re staying, I said, ‘Man, you want believe this, Pat just texted me and asked me to go do the ESPN GameDay,'” Blake Shelton recalled. “And of course everybody’s like, ‘You gotta do it. You gotta do it, man.’

“I said, ‘Yea, but I don’t know shit about all these teams. I’m obviously an OU fan and an OSU fan, too. I don’t know if it’s legal to be both or not, but I always have been. I pull for all three of the teams — Tulsa, too. Obviously a home-town kind of guy.”

While Shelton might have admitted that he doesn’t know a ton about college football teams around the country, he is still looking forward to being a part of ESPN College GameDay this weekend ahead of the Oklahoma vs. Tennessee matchup.

“I’m excited, man. I’ve got a lot of friends and family that go to every single one of the games,” he said. “Obviously the first SEC game, at home, the whole state is buzzing. It’s just going to be huge, and on top of that, that particular game is going to be a tough game. So I’m excited. I’m so excited you guys asked me to do it.”
