ESPN College GameDay announces Florida vs. Texas A&M for March 1 location

ESPN’s College GameDay is headed to Gainesville for a potential top-10 matchup in the SEC between No. 2 Florida and No. 7 Texas A&M.
The matchup features two of the top four teams in the current conference standings heading into the weekend slate. It will be the first time these two programs meet this season.
ESPN’s flagship pregame show is set to begin at 10 a.m. ET live from Gainesville. Tip-off between the Gators and Aggies is set for 8:30 p.m. ET live on the SEC Network.
The announcement was made during this week’s edition of College GameDay, which was live from Houston ahead of the Cougars’ matchup against Iowa State in the Big 12 Conference. They attended the No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup in the SEC between Auburn and Alabama the week prior.
For Florida, hosting College GameDay helps put the Gators in rarified air. This will be the sixth time Florida has hosted the show on their home floor — fifth most all-time behind Duke, North Carolina, Kansas and Kentucky in that order.
It will be the 10th time overall that Florida is playing in the game that hosts CGD. The Gators are 7-2 in their first nine games, which includes a 4-1 record at home. Seven of those nine matchups were against Kentucky, defeating the Wildcats six times in such games as well. The last time Florida hosted College GameDay was in 2017, an 88-66 win over UK.

The lone exception came against Tennessee in 2009. Now, they’ll add Texas A&M to the list.
The Gators went ahead and outlined the procedure for students to attend the show. Those instructions can be read here.
Before either team gets to next Saturday, each program has two games to play before they host GameDay. For Florida, they face LSU on Saturday and Georgia on Tuesday — two unranked opponents rated toward the bottom of SEC play.
Texas A&M’s road to Gainesville is a little tougher. They’re set to host No. 6 Tennessee on Saturday afternoon before traveling to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt on the road.
The first and only time these two programs will meet this season, the outcome could have major implications in the final SEC standings and eventual conference tournament seedings. Having a head-to-head victory over another top-10 team so late in the regular season will almost certainly boost their attractiveness with the NCAA Tournament committee as well.
