ESPN’s College GameDay has announced their host location for Week 4 of the college football season. Lee Corso and the gang will head to South Bend, IN, home of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, as they prepare to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes.

This matchup is one of the, if not the biggest, of the early portion of the college football schedule. And the College GameDay crew will be their front and center, getting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans pumped up for their huge top-10 showdown.

Week 4 matchup between Ohio State and Notre Dame is the second game in their home-and-home matchup. Last year, the Buckeyes took care of business at home against the Fighting Irish in Week 1, winning 21-10. This year is Notre Dame’s year to host, and they are looking to return the favor by beating Ohio State in South Bend.

Ohio State and Notre Dame both enter Saturday’s contest undefeated, with the Buckeyes sitting at 3-0 with wins over Indiana, Youngstown State, and Western Kentucky. At the same time, Notre Dame is 4-0 and has defeated Navy, Tennessee State, NC State, and Central Michigan.

Not only is this game a battle between two of the sport’s most prestigious programs, but the game also comes with massive early season College Football Playoff implications. A win against a top 10 ranked AP opponent would only bolster either program’s College Football Playoff resume. With both teams firmly in the race for a postseason bid, this matchup could be fireworks from the opening kickoff.

College GameDay has been to South Bend a few times in recent history. The same can’t be said for Ohio State. Week 4’s trip to the home of the Fighting Irish will be the Buckeyes’ first trip there in almost 30 years. The last time Ohio State was there was in 1996 for a contest of top-five ranked teams. Ohio State, ranked No. 4, defeated Notre Dame, ranked No. 5, 29-16.

In the series, the Buckeyes own a commanding lead, winning five of their seven matchups. In fact, Ohio State has won five straight games dating back to 1995.
