College GameDay will head to the biggest game of Week 2 when the ESPN pregame show makes a stop in Ann Arbor for Michigan vs. Texas.

The defending national champs host last year’s Big 12 champs and College Football Playoff participants. Of course, Texas is now an SEC opponent coming to the north.

First things first in Week 1, Michigan plays Fresno State Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET while Texas hosts Colorado State at 3:30 p.m. ET.

It’ll be a new era for Michigan football under new head coach Sherrone Moore. Michigan AD Warde Manuel became convinced that Moore was ready to be a head coach following last year’s Penn State game.

“You know, you don’t often get an opportunity to watch somebody perform in a role, and because of the circumstances, I had the opportunity to watch him on the sidelines as the acting head coach for four games,” Warde Manuel recently told The Michigan Insider. “And I was impressed with what and how he managed and handled the team, handled the challenges that were thrust upon him, particularly in the Penn State game.”

Michigan fell behind 3-0 through the first quarter, before really grabbing control of the game in the second and third quarters. The Wolverines took a 24-9 lead at one point in the fourth, before cruising to the victory.

There was a ton of pressure on Moore and Michigan that day, and the Wolverines handled it with no issues.

“The way that he was able to lead the team and organize everything and put the game plan together under all of that pressure that was on him and the team, it was just impressive,” Manuel said.
