JACKSON STATE, WE’RE COMING TO YOUR CITY (exclamation point emoji),” tweeted College GameDay. “The epic HBCU rivalry matchup between @GeauxJags and @GoJSUTigersFB is up next!”
On the season, Jackson State is enjoying immense success under Sanders’ watch once again, sitting an impressive 7-0 this far. On Saturday, the Tigers took care of business against Campbell, sending the Camels home with a 22-14 loss.
Additionally, Sander’s son – Shedeur Sanders — has been fantastic at quarterback for the Tigers. On the season, Sanders has passed for 2,218 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions, adding 104 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, as well.

Meanwhile, Southern won’t be a walk in the park for the Tigers, as they’re coming off a 51-7 drubbing of VU of Lynchburg last Saturday. Sitting at 5-2 on the season, the Jaguars pose a huge threat to the success of the Jaguars moving forward.
They’re led by quarterback Besean McCray, who has passed for 1,304 passing yards and 12 touchdowns on the season, while rushing for 411 yards and five touchdowns, as well.
After Southern, Jackson State doesn’t face another team that’s over .500 at the moment for the remainder of the season, so next Saturday is a huge one for the Tigers. If they can get past their upcoming opponent, an undefeated season could be in their future.
Regardless, it’ll be fun to see Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit on campus next weekend. Of course, Deion Sanders is the natural choice to be the celebrity guest picker, but it remains to be seen if Prime will be a little busy come Saturday.
