ESPN College GameDay: Picks for Week 6, Red River Showdown

One of the biggest games of the college football season thus far was given the College GameDay treatment by ESPN on Saturday, as none other than the Red River Showdown took center stage.

Dillon Gabriel and the Oklahoma Sooners are looking for revenge against Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns, and Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Lee Corso, Pat McAfee and company wanted in of the fun.

Elsewhere in Week 6, the Alabama Crimson Tide travel to College Station for a highly-anticipated showdown with the Texas A&M Aggies, and an undefeated showdown between the Maryland Terrapins and Ohio State Buckeyes takes precedent in the Big Ten.

Joining the fray on College GameDay this morning was none other than Baker Mayfield. Texas fans may not have been elated to see the Oklahoma legend on stage, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback brought some charisma and knowledge to the show on Saturday.

CGD Predictions for Week 6:

Red River Showdown — Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma Sooners: No pick from Herbstreit, as he was mid-sprint to Chris Fowler and the booth. Howard and McAfee are on the Longhorns, and of course Mayfield is riding with the Sooners.

As for Corso and his headgear pick, the legend tossed aside an Oklahoma helmet in-favor of the Texas mascot head, riding with the Longhorns.

UCF Knights at Kansas Jayhawks: Fresh off signing an extension, Gus Malzahn is taking the Knights to Kansas, but only Howard and Corso believe UCF will leave victorious.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Wisconsin Badgers: It’d be a huge win if Rutgers went into Madison and left victorious, but nobody is picking the Scarlet Knights.

Alabama Crimson Tide at Texas A&M Aggies: Howard and Mayfield are on Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies, while McAfee, Corso and Herbstreit are rocking with Jalen Milroe and the Crimson Tide.

Kentucky Wildcats at Georgia Bulldogs: Can the Wildcats pull off a massive upset in Athens? The College GameDay crew believes it’ll be close, but they’re all picking the Bulldogs.

LSU Tigers at Missouri Tigers: Not many expected Missouri to be ranked higher than LSU in the AP Top 25 Poll coming into Week 6. Still, only Herbstreit has confidence in Eli Drinkwitz‘ squad.

Colorado Buffaloes at Arizona State Sun Devils: Can Deion Sanders get back to his winning ways? Everyone sans Corso believes so.

Washington State Cougars at UCLA Bruins: Corso and Herbstreit are rocking with the Bruins to get the victory.

Maryland Terrapins at Ohio State Buckeyes: In the matchup of two undefeated Big Ten squads, nobody is picking the Terrapins, as the College GameDay crew is on the Buckeyes.

Purdue Boilermakers at Iowa Hawkeyes: The Hawkeyes lost Cade McNamara for the season last weekend, but only Mayfield has them losing on Saturday.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Louisville Cardinals: Only Mayfield believes in the Cardinals on Saturday.

Syracuse Orange at North Carolina Tar Heels: Tez Walker will be on the field for North Carolina, which leads everyone to pick the Tar Heels.
