Timothee Chalamet named ESPN College GameDay guest picker ahead of SEC Championship
Timothée Chalamet is set to be the ESPN College GameDay guest picker ahead of the SEC Championship, ESPN announced. The actor will appear on set ahead of Georgia vs. Texas in Atlanta.
Chalamet has become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, appearing in multiple blockbuster films. He’s perhaps best known for his role in the Dune series, as well as recent hits such as Wonka, Interstellar and Lady Bird. For his next film, he will portray music legend Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic, A Complete Unknown.
Chalamet will now be on set with ESPN’s College GameDay crew of Rece Davis, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso as they get ready for the SEC title game. Georgia and Texas will square off at Mercedes-Benz Stadium Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on ABC.
This year’s SEC Championship matchup was decided last week. Texas knocked off Texas A&M in the first Lone Star Showdown since 2011, sealing the Longhorns’ first trip to Atlanta. The two teams were tied in the standings, making it a win-and-in matchup for the SEC title game.

One of the biggest challenges for Georgia on Saturday will be stopping Texas’ offense. The Longhorns rank No. 14 in the nation in total offense, averaging 450.1 yards, and No. 21 in scoring with 34.8 points per game.
Of course, there’s also the possibility Steve Sarkisian throws both quarterbacks into the game. Quinn Ewers is the starter, but Arch Manning came in with a goal-line package last week against Texas A&M, which could indicate his usage in the SEC title game. Georgia will be ready, though.
“I think first and foremost, they come from a great program,” Bulldogs defensive back Dan Jackson said. “They’re both really smart guys. Nobody’s the exact same. We’re definitely going to be watching a lot of film this week, like we have in the past. We’re just going to be ready for both of them. They’re both great athletes.”
