Two college football giants will meet on the field next Saturday in Austin. For the first time since the 2009 national championship, Alabama and Texas will face off against one another. There will be plenty of storylines to follow and College Gameday wants to be there to tell them.
ESPN’s pregame show announced they will be in town for next week’s showdown between the Crimson Tide and Longhorns. It’s been 2019 since College Gameday was in the Lone Star State’s capital, when another SEC team, LSU, was playing at Darrell K-Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.

The official announcement was made while both teams were still playing their Week 1 matchup. A graphic was released with Lee Corso wearing the Bevo mascot head.

One of the biggest storylines will undoubtedly be Nick Saban once again facing a former assistant coach. Steve Sarkisian was the Alabam offensive coordinator for two years but in the midst of a national championship run in 2020, he accepted the Texas job. Now, less than two seasons later, he will be going up against his former head coach.

Alabama will enter the matchup No. 1 in the country, while Texas has a slight chance of being ranked. Nonetheless, there will be a ton of hype building up to the game.
Big Noon Kickoff to join College Gameday in Austin
ESPN will not be the only network in Austin for the game. Fox will take their own pregame show, Big Noon Kickoff, and go head-to-head vs. College Gameday. They will be the ones broadcasting the game as well, with kickoff scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
Big Noon Kickoff has never been in Austin but has covered Texas before. They have traveled to Dallas for the Red River Rivalry for the Longhorns’ annual showdown against Oklahoma.
