This is some good news, baby. Dickie V is getting back behind the microphone.

ESPN analyst Dick Vitale is tweeted an update on his cancer treatment and he’s good to go to keep calling games. It’s great news, especially since it means he’ll be on the sidelines on Sunday when Baylor takes on Villanova.

“Just [received] a text from Dr Brown who is in charge of my cancer treatment,” Vitale tweeted Friday night. “‘Blood count’s fine. Go call some games.’ Love it baby -Time to celebrate now with my wife & get a [great] Italian meal. My new life waiting for blood count results is needed [and I] have a terrific medical TEAM.”

Vitale was diagnosed with lymphoma in October. It’s his second cancer diagnosis this year after he beat melanoma. He’s working through his treatment, though, and was on the call for Dayton’s stunning, buzzer-beating upset of Kansas earlier this year.

Now he’ll be on the sideline for No. 2 Baylor vs. No. 6 Villanova this weekend. Baylor and Villanova tip off Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.

Dick Vitale hammers Brian Kelly for leaving Notre Dame for LSU

Vitale last updated his treatment in November, right around the time Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly left for LSU. He took to Twitter to share plenty of thoughts about the move, too.

The news of Kelly departing for LSU was wildly unexpected, and it especially shocked Vitale. Vitale tweeted a message late in the night, expressing his disbelief with how the Kelly situation went down.

“Wake me up I have had a tough 24 hours is there any truth Brian Kelly is leaving (Notre Dame)? Tell me he had at least the decency to let his coaches and players know before the media,” Vitale tweeted. “He’s too classy to leave them without some hugs for making him the winningest coach in ND history.”

Kelly coached to a 92-39 overall record with the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame is 11-1 this season and has an outside shot at making it to the College Football Playoff. Kelly has been to two CFP semifinals and also appeared in the 2012 national championship with Notre Dame. Now, Kelly heads to an LSU team that went 6-6 this season and that just fired head coach Ed Orgeron less than two seasons after he led the Tigers to an undefeated, national championship winning season.
