ESPN FPI Top 25 updated following Week 9 of college football
The ESPN FPI top 25 has been updated following a wild Week 9 of college football. Many had this week circled on their calendars, and the games didn’t dissapoint one bit.
The Big Ten was the flavor of the day, hosting two gigantic ranked showdowns on the day. First, a heavyweight fight between Michigan and Michigan State delivered us a game that’ll live on for years. Afterwards, Penn State gave Ohio State everything they could in Columbus.
Elsewhere, the World’s Largest Cocktail Party between Georgia and Florida delivered a fun spectacle. Additionally, there were shocking conclusions to games all over the country. Let’s check out how the ESPN FPI was shaken afterwards.

Biggest Movers
Wisconsin Badgers (+6). Things weren’t looking up for the Badgers following losses to Penn State, Michigan and Notre Dame. Now, they have a chance to win the Big Ten West following a victory over Iowa.
Utah Utes (+6). The Utes have perhaps flown under the radar in 2021, as two early season losses soured their season. However, a blow-out victory over UCLA helped them climb up the ESPN FPI.
Auburn Tigers (+4). After becoming a sneaky pick to make the SEC Championship Game, Auburn doused Ole Miss’ dreams with a victory at home. After questions of whether he could coach in the SEC, Harsin is proving he’ll be just fine.
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (-9). The former darling on the underdogs, the Chanticleers are tumbling down the ESPN FPI. Fair or not, they’re held to a higher standard than other teams on the list.
Iowa Hawkeyes (-5). Has any team suffered a bigger fall from grace than the Iowa Hawkeyes? Kirk Ferentz’ squad has gone from the No. 2 team in the country to looking uncompetitive. It’s surprising they’re not farther down on the ESPN FPI.
Ole Miss Rebels (-4). The Rebels wanted to walk into Auburn’s home and leave victorious. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the cards. Now, Matt Corral and Lane Kiffin must rally their team for a strong finish to their season.
