ESPN reveals innovative broadcast decision on College Football Playoff
ESPN has partnered with movie theatre company Cinemark to screen the College Football Playoff in select theatres across the country. Both the semifinal games and the national championship will be shown.
College football fans can grab some popcorn and sit back in the theatre all day on New Year’s Eve. No. 1 Alabama is set to face No. 4 Cincinnati at 3:30 p.m. ET in the Cotton Bowl. Immediately following, No. 2 Michigan will face No. 3 Georgia in the Orange Bowl at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The winners of those two games will then square off in the College Football Playoff Championship at 8 p.m. ET on Jan. 10.
“We are thrilled to offer an incredible opportunity for college football fans to gather and cheer on their teams in our immersive auditoriums with larger-than-life screens and surround sound,” Cinemark senior vice president of global content Justin McDaniel said. “This collaboration with ESPN brings together the best in college football and exhibition for a one-of-a-kind viewing experience that will make people feel like they are part of the on-field action.”
