ESPN updates FPI Top 25 rankings after chaotic Week 11 of college football
The college football world was shaken up yet again on Saturday, with plenty of upsets throughout the Week 11 matchup. After AP Top 25-ranked teams went 17-8 during Week 11, ESPN has again updated its FPI Top 25 rankings.
The AP top ten was shaken up on Saturday after a couple of losses, both coming from the Pac-12. No. 6 Oregon lost to No. 24 Washington 37-34, likely ending the Ducks’ hopes of making the College Football Playoff. No. 9 UCLA also fell to Arizona 34-28. Elsewhere in the top ten, No. 10 Alabama prevailed in a tight battle against No. 11 Ole Miss, much to the disappointment of Lane Kiffin.
No. 16 Tulane hosted No. 22 UCF with major AAC implications on the line, but it was the Knights that took control early and ultimately came away with a 38-31 victory. No. 17 NC State dropped a disappointing game against Boston College 21-20, while No. 19 Liberty fell 36-33 against UConn. No. 21 Illinois fell again on Saturday, losing 31-24 against Purdue.
ESPN’s College GameDay was in Austin ahead of the matchup between No. 4 TCU and No. 18 Texas, and the game was a close one. While the game was close, though, it might be in a different fashion than most were expecting. Both defenses played well in the low-scoring affair, and TCU cemented its spot as a College Football Playoff contender with a 17-10 win on the road.

Just one new team joined this week’s ESPN FPI Top 25, as Florida leaped up eight spots to No. 24 after Week 11. The Gators take the spot of UCLA, who fell nine spots and out of the top 25 after entering the week ranked No. 21 in the FPI.
After Florida’s jump of eight spots, Florida State and Kansas State were the next biggest risers in this week’s FPI Top 25. The Seminoles each rose six spots, finishing just outside of the top ten. A plethora of teams in the middle of the rankings dropped multiple spots, though not nearly as far as UCLA fell.
